React Native Projects

The essential skills I developed to build these projects were acquired during my course,  CSC342, CSC352: React Native I & II.

Multi Screens WIT25 Showcase Guide App

The Women In Tech 2025 Showcase Guide is a mobile app built in CSC342: React Native I using React Native and React Navigation. The app provides artists and speakers with an easy way to access event information and submit their work. The project uses a stack navigator to move between three main screens: Home, Submit Your Art, and Apply to Be a Speaker. The Home screen displays event details and includes a clickable image that takes users to the submission page. Each screen uses themed colors and images to match the Women in Tech 2025 branding. Overall, the app is designed to be simple, clear, and helpful, guiding users through the steps to submit artwork or apply as a speaker for the Women in Tech 2025 Showcase.

Overview

  • You will learn how to create multi-screens using Stack Navigation in React Native.

Guidelines and Resources

  • Your program should have a theme other than demoing navigation.
  • Stack Navigation is a type of navigation you are familiar with. It is the navigation you use in web browsers.
  • You can use the online IDE - https://snack.expo.dev/?platform=android

Expectations

  • Your program should be over-commented at the top of each function, showing you have a good understanding of what the code inside your function is doing.
  • Your program should be a small but useful React Native application.
  • Your program should have a good user experience.
  • Your program must have at least two screens. More than two will give you an even better understanding of multi-screens.
  • Your program must use navigation so the user can click to navigate to different screens.
  • Your program should have a theme other than demoing navigation.

Expo Snack Project

ArtVise AI – Gallery Challenge

This project for CSC352: React Native II is an interactive mini-game called ArtVise AI – Gallery Challenge, built with React Native and Expo. The player controls an animated rover that moves across the screen, shoots artworks, collects power-ups, and earns points through real-time interactions. The game demonstrates essential course concepts such as animations, timed events, collision detection, state management, and UI controls.

Overview

In the competitive mobile app landscape, a polished user interface with smooth, intuitive animations can make all the difference. High-quality animations enhance the user experience, provide valuable feedback, and create a sense of craftsmanship. Generic, static interfaces are no longer enough to capture user attention.

This assignment will introduce you to the core principles of creating graphics and animations within a React Native Expo application.

Guidelines and resources

1. Choose an app idea that excites you – it could be a game, a productivity tool, or anything that sparks your creativity.
2. Use Expo to set up your development environment quickly and easily.

Expectations and Requirements

  1. Pick a theme and a clear purpose for your app.
  2. Create a new React Native Expo project.
  3. Implement at least one clear example of Animation Graphics.
  4. Include user interactions that trigger state changes, such as buttons, text inputs, and switches.
  5. The app must have a clear purpose and use, not just be a demo of Animation Graphics.
  6. Over comment your code in your own words.
  7. Create a great user experience.

Expo Snack Project

ArtVise AI Mobile Companion Hub

This CSC352: React Native II project is a mobile companion hub for ArtVise AI, built with React Native and Expo. It features a preloaded artwork gallery with a modal viewer, auto-slideshow, manual navigation, and a horizontal carousel with index tracking. The app also includes dark/light mode, camera tools for submitting artwork or selfies, a like button with feedback, an artist-status toggle, and autofocus input.

Overview

In this assignment, you will have several choices on how to complete this course.

  1. Publish your assignment to the iOS app store (This has a publishing fee).
  2. Publish your assignment to the Google Play Store (Android) (This has a publishing fee).
  3. Add new features to one of the mobile applications you made in this course.
  4. Make a new mobile application.

Guidelines

  • Start this before you think you need to. Each choice has hidden challenges.
  • It is critical this is done on time to be successful in your next module and this course.

Expectations and Requirements

  • Choose one of the four options above.
  • Adjust your choice based on instructor approval and student feedback.
  • Execute and deliver your choice on time.
